1st-reading position to amend the Package Travel Directive (EU) 2015/2302 to strengthen traveller rights and simplify rules. If adopted, then trilogues with Council (mandate adopted Dec 2024).
Why it matters. Post-COVID fixes on refunds/insolvency; clarity on what counts as a “package.”
Key elements (EP/IMCO line). Clarify/streamline the package definition; bolster insolvency protection; improve cash-refund rules; extend some rules to organiser–supplier contracts. Linked Travel Arrangements are slated for deletion to reduce confusion.
