The CMO, the Common Market Organisation, establishes a set of rules for the functioning of the agricultural markets in the European Union. It builds on the rules for goods and services with specific policy tools that help to improve the functioning of the markets.

EU Support for the Rural Development

This is "the Second Pillar” of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the EU support to the Rural development. It complements the system of direct payments to farmers and measures to manage agricultural markets (the so-called "first pillar". Rural Development policy shares a number of objectives with other European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF).
