EU Strategy

Since 2015, the EU Commission is working on a new EU Trade Strategy, based on transparency, effectiveness and with a programme of negotiations of trade agreements with third Cuntries. Consumers, workers and enterprises will be the first beneficiaries.

EU - China Negotiations for Investment Agreement
​

Negotiations on the EU-China investment agreement were launched on 21 November 2013 in Beijing.  The aim is to remove market access barriers to investment and provide a high level of protection to investors and investments in EU and China markets. The next round of negotiations is likely to take place in July 2017 – with preparatory inter-sessional work in between.

EU - Japan Negotiations for Trade
​

The EU has negotiated a trade agreement with Japan.
EU firms already export over €58bn in goods and €28bn in services to Japan, every year. The Agreement will reduce tariffs and barriers when exporting to Japan and when Japan is exporting to EU.

CETA: EU - CANADA and the New Trade Agreement
​

CETA is the new trade agreement between the EU and Canada, voted by the European Parliament on 15 February 2017. It will be easier to export goods and services.
The EU national parliaments must approve CETA before it can take full effect.
