First Commission's Workshop on July 4, 2023
The European Commission, in collaboration with the KDT Joint Undertaking Office, is organizing a workshop on July 4, 2023, to discuss pilot lines as part of the implementation of the European Chips Act and the Chips for Europe Initiative.
The Chips Act aims to support the development and production of advanced semiconductor chips in Europe. The workshop will be conducted online and is open to all interested participants.
The purpose of the workshop is to provide an overview of the proposed pilot lines and create a comprehensive map of the pilot line landscape. These pilot lines will focus on process development, testing, experimentation, and small-scale production, bridging the gap between laboratory research and full-scale manufacturing.
Three strategic areas for pilot lines have already been identified:
- sub-2nm GAA process technology development
- FD-SOI technology at 10nm and below
- heterogeneous integration
During the workshop, participants will discuss potential topics for pilot lines that go beyond the three identified areas and complement them. The agenda for the workshop and connection details will be provided soon. Registration is not required to attend the workshop.
Overall, the workshop aims to foster collaboration and facilitate the establishment of pilot lines that will contribute to the advancement of semiconductor technology in Europe.
