INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN DIGITAL

EU-US Digital in trade and technological Council

The EU-US Trade and Technology Council (TTC) is a collaborative platform between the European Union (EU) and the United States (US) that aims to address global trade and technology challenges while upholding shared values of democracy, freedom, and human rights.

The primary objectives of the TTC are to enhance trade and investment, strengthen technological and industrial leadership, foster innovation, promote emerging technologies and infrastructure, and facilitate the development of compatible standards and regulations based on shared democratic principles.

The TTC's key priorities include promoting technology standards, ensuring trustworthy artificial intelligence, establishing an open, reliable, and secure Internet, and combatting disinformation, foreign information manipulation, and interference.

To carry out its work effectively, the TTC operates through ten working groups. These working groups translate political decisions into tangible outcomes, coordinate technical work, and provide reports at the political level.

The EU-US Trade and Technology Council serves as a vital platform for collaboration between the EU and the US, allowing them to jointly address important trade and technology-related issues, foster innovation, and ensure the protection of democratic values in the digital age.

The ten working groups comprise:

  1. Technology Standards
  2. Climate and Clean Tech
  3. Secure Supply Chains
  4. ICTS Security and Competitiveness
  5. Data Governance and Technology Platforms
  6. Misuse of Technology Threatening Security & Human Rights
