On July 3, 2021, the EU Directive on Single-Use Plastics came into force. This is the first European Directive that bans certain types of plastic consumer products which, for their single use, are discharged in large quantities into the environment. The EU war against plastic left in the environment was born years earlier, when studies and research showed the harmfulness of plastic in the food chain.
