European Film Forum
WHAT IS IT FOR?
The European Film Forum is a platform for structured dialogue between policymakers and the audiovisual sector. It launched in 2015.
The forum aims to inform the sector of the current policy agenda, and consult it on existing needs.
WHY IS IT NEEDED?
Although the competence on audiovisual policies lies mostly with national institutions, the EU can help European works gain audiences across Europe and beyond. In doing so, the EU supports the commercial success and the diversity of Europe's audiovisual offer.
The EU can put forward proposals and offer financing through the MEDIA subprogramme funding. The European Film Forum helps in making sure that the steps taken are the right ones for the industry.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The European Commission organises conferences and workshops at film and TV markets and events around Europe. Government officials, experts, project leaders and representatives from the film, TV and game industries take part in the discussions.
Details on upcoming European Film Forum meetings are available on the Digital Single Market website.
WHAT ARE THE KEY TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION?
- Film financing
- Promoting European films
