NANDO - Notified Bodies

Notified bodies play a crucial role as the sole recognized third-party entities responsible for assessing the performance of construction products within the EU. Designated by EU countries, these bodies ensure compliance with the standards set out in the Construction Products Regulation. The European Commission facilitates coordination among these notified bodies to maintain uniformity and reliability in the assessment process.

Key Responsibilities of Notified Bodies:
  • Conducting performance assessments of construction products.
  • Certifying the constancy of product performance.
  • Certifying factory production control.

Designation and Selection of Notified Bodies:
  • Apart from EU countries, Notified Bodies are also designated by European Economic Area (EEA) countries and other nations such as Switzerland or Turkey, provided they have specific agreements with the EU.
  • An official list of all Notified Bodies under the construction products regulation is accessible through the NANDO-CPR database.

The effective functioning of Notified Bodies is integral to maintaining the high standards of safety and quality in the EU construction industry, ensuring products meet the necessary performance criteria.
