Right to Look for a Job

Any EU national has the right to:

  • look for a job in another EU country
  • receive the same assistance from the national employment offices as nationals of their host country
  • stay in the host country for a period long enough to look for work, apply for a job and be recruited.

Jobseekers cannot be expelled if they prove that they are continuing to seek employment and have a genuine chance of finding a job.

How to look for a job?

If you want to look for a job in another country, you will find useful information on job opportunities and living and working conditions in the European Economic Area (EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) on the EURES – European Employment Services.
