Alpine Traffic Observatory
Jointly created with Switzerland, this observatory collects data and publishes reports on freight traffic across the Alps by road and rail.

- European Economic Area (EEA) Agreement
- Extends EU internal market regulations on road transport to Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.
- EU–Switzerland Land Transport Agreement
- Fully liberalizes road and rail transport between the EU and Switzerland since July 1, 2002.
- Switzerland aligned its maximum truck weight limit (40 tonnes) with EU standards in 2005.
- EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA)
- Contains dedicated provisions for road transport operations post-Brexit, maintaining EU rules with some specific adjustments for the UK.
- Temporary agreements with Ukraine and Moldova
- Established in 2022 to support continued road transport of goods amid Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

- INTERBUS Agreement
- Regulates occasional passenger transport services between the EU and countries including Albania, Andorra, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.
- Plans are underway to expand it to regular passenger services and include Morocco.
- European Agreement concerning the Work of Crews of Vehicles Engaged in International Road Transport (AETR)
- Sets harmonized rules on driving times, breaks, and rest periods for drivers across 49 countries, including all EU Member States.
- Digital tachographs mandatory since 2010 for all contracting countries.
